I attended the University College of the Fraser Valley after receiving a Provincial Scholarship for my artwork and graduated with honors and a diploma in Applied and Decorative Arts, Graphic Design and Communication.
Ghostess is a Bluesy Rock project spearheaded by Jenna Earle. Jenna Earle is not your typical singer-songwriter. With a moody yet inviting soundscape that stems from her unique slide and open-tuning guitar techniques, her music couples distinctive lyrics and vibey production with sultry, almost haunting vocals. Born into a gypsy lifestyle, Jenna literally began her life on the road when her mom gave birth to her while traveling and she has been “off the grid” ever since. Spending her youth on a farm devoid of electricity and running water, Jenna’s childhood consisted of one-room schoolhouses, bohemian parties and entertaining herself by listening to her parents and their friends play blues and flamenco music. The product of a musical family spanning many generations, Jenna was fortunate enough to appear as a featured vocalist on a Juno-nominated album by uncle Lenny Graf at the age of 11. Her music education was furthered after watching late-night jam sessions at smoky downtown jazz clubs and attending Selkirk College, where she earned a diploma in music composition. Jenna’s latest EP was produced by Bill Bell (Jason Mraz, Justin Nozuka, Tom Cochrane) and reflects her wide-ranging influences from greats such as Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald and Robert [...]

Now semi-retired, Ilona spends her time developing naive renderings of everyday life. Her paintings tell a story of rustic simplicity through bold colors and whimsical simplicity. Using beads, hemp, wire, stones and gems my designs matured in making glass beads and now the world of feathers is upon my collection. Such an array of color and shape I am adding one of a kind uniqueness to my collective work. Inspirations of music, visiting foreign countries and surrounded by my friends “the artists”, contribute to my never ending flow of creativity. I believe the strongest influence is nature itself. Traditional, yet fun, funky and outgoing. Through Hip Navy Beads I’m living my dreams of showcasing my creativity and sharing my passions with others. My lifelong dream was to be a costume designer for theatre or film. I started designing beaded jewelry seven years ago and eventually found my path with wirework. I love everything about wire and have learned through classes, books and most of all just creating. I evolved into lampworking and absolutely love creating works of art with glass. I find inspiration in the traditional as well as some very unusual things. For example, one necklace I created came from the contrast of my Japanese maple tree against the blue of my son’s slide. Located in beautiful Chilliwack, B.C. Canada, Hip Navy Beads is growing through the partnerships and support of my amazing family and friends.
